Costume Designing and Fashion Technology programme is designed for students who aspire to learn skill oriented course with passion and creative innovation. The main aim of the department is to enhance the employability of students and meet the evolving requirement of fashion an apparel industry. Our focus is to train our students to get strong academic knowledge in the areas of fashion designing, patternmaking and grading, fashion portfolio development, fashion styling and computer aided designing. The Department is always enthusiastic about conducting various courses and workshops for the students and training programs for working professionals to get exposed to technological advances.

MRCAS EDGE
MRCAS Edge goes beyond the University curriculum to offer students all the courses that are needed to enhance their employability in every stream of study. The curriculum is carefully curated keeping in mind the skills needed for employability and the latest industry requirements. The MRCAS EDGE offers a T Shaped approach to learning, where students studying in one stream have the freedom to attend courses offered in other streams. The students are therefore encouraged to take up Value Added Courses (VAC), Skill Based Courses (SBC) and Online Certification Courses (OCC) to gain a multi-disciplinary learning experience. The design and delivery of the MRCAS Edge Programs have been formulated with Advisors from premier Institutions like IIT Madras, TSM and leading multinational corporations.

Department Activities
Costume Designing and Fashion Technology department is established in the academic year 2024 with Undergraduate course. The aim of this department is to generate multi-faceted graduates who can deal the challenges of the dynamic fashion industry by influencing the transformative capacity of design in fashion and allied areas, creatively and responsibly.
The department provides the knowledge and skills in fashion illustration, garment designing and construction, computer aided designing, fashion draping, fabric embellishment design. Other than curriculum development the department focuses seminars, conferences, workshop, training guest lecturers from industrial and subject expert in the respective fields. The curriculum is well framed and integrated with the choice-based credit system (CBCS) and Outcome Based Education (OBE) model emphasizing industry-oriented learning, well-structured laboratories, experienced staff and periodical industrial visit and internship.
