Verification

Answers to common questions about admissions, programmes, scholarships, placements, facilities, and student life at Manikam Ramaswami College of Arts & Science (MRCAS), Madurai.

Admissions & Eligibility

MRCAS offers undergraduate programmes across Commerce, Management, Computer Science/Applications, Psychology, Visual Communication, and related specialisations. For the current list of majors and intake, please check the Programmes page or contact admissions.

Applicants must have successfully completed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognised board. Programme-specific subject preferences and minimum marks may apply as per university/affiliating norms.

Apply online via the application portal. Keep scanned copies of marksheets, ID proof, recent photograph, and other required documents ready. On submission, you will receive an application ID for all future communication.

10th & 12th marksheets, transfer certificate (TC), conduct certificate, community/category certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar/ID proof, passport-size photos, and any programme-specific requirements. Originals will be verified as per university guidelines.

Unless specifically announced, admissions are merit-based. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for counselling/document verification. Any test or interview, if required, will be communicated on the website and via email/SMS.

Fee & Scholarships

The most up-to-date fee details are published on the Fees page and included in the offer of admission. For any clarifications, contact the Accounts/Admissions office.

Eligible students may apply for merit-based, need-based, sports, and government scholarships (subject to norms and availability). Deadlines and documentation are announced each academic year.

Fee payment schedules are shared during admission. Students may also avail education loans from banks; In future we provide required documents (admission letter, fee structure) to support loan applications.

Academics & Assessment

MRCAS follows the university-prescribed credit system with a mix of continuous assessment (CIA) and end-semester examinations. Detailed regulations are provided in the student handbook.

Students are expected to meet the minimum attendance requirement as per university rules to be eligible for end-semester examinations. Attendance is monitored course-wise.

Yes. Students may opt for value-added courses, workshops, and certifications to enhance employability. Offerings vary by semester and department.

Placements & Internships

The Placement & Career Services Cell conducts training on resumes, interviews, aptitude, and soft skills, coordinates internships, and connects eligible students with hiring partners. Placement updates are shared on official channels.

Many programmes include a credit-bearing internship or project. Duration and guidelines are issued by departments each academic year.

Yes. Guest lectures, alumni interactions, industry talks, and job fairs are conducted periodically to improve industry exposure and opportunities

Facilities & Student Life

Accommodation availability is communicated each session. Please contact the office for current options and allocation procedures. The college also assists with guidance on nearby accommodation.

Transport facilities/routes are announced at the start of the semester if applicable. Students may also use public transport; route guidance is provided by the admin office.

Students can participate in academic clubs, cultural forums, sports, NSS/NCC, entrepreneurship & innovation cells, and departmental associations. Announcements are made during orientation.

MRCAS follows an anti-ragging policy and code of conduct in line with UGC/state regulations. A grievance redressal mechanism and counselling support are available.

Write to the admissions helpdesk with your application ID and the new contact information. For verified changes, the team will update records and confirm by email.
