Manikam Ramaswami College of Arts and Science celebrated the 78th Indian Independence on 15 August 2024. The I, II and III Year students attended the event with vigor and enthusiasm. Lt. Col. V. Sivakumar, Commanding Officer, NCC 7th (TN) Bn. hoisted the Indian National Flag. Dr.S. Aruna, Vice Principal welcomed the guest, faculty and the students. Mr. Guhan, Liasion Officer, MRCAS felicitated the guest with the memento. The Chief Guest addressed the students on the importance of Indian Freedom struggle from the colonial powers. He also highlighted the hard and the sacrificial lives of the freedom fighters from Mahatma Gandhi to VOC. “Kappalottiya Tamizhan”. The Chief Guest reiterated the need to a responsible citizen of the country.

Further, the students showcased spectacular and vibrant cultural performances on stage. Students from various departments joined their hands to showcase unity through a dance performance which resounded themes of patriotism and religious unity. ‘Vande Matram’ was sung by the choir students echoing the love for the country. The performances also included a speech in Tamil, English Viskit and concluded with a MIME.
