Happy Onam from Manikam Ramaswami College Of Arts & Science (MRCAS)! May this festive season bring joy, prosperity, and happiness to all. Wishing you a bountiful harvest of success and good health. Enjoy the celebrations and the vibrant spirit of Onam! 🌸🌾🎉
The Shakthi – Women’s Cell @ MRCAS, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, orchestrated a vibrant Onam celebration at MRCAS, infusing the campus with festive energy and cultural richness. The event was marked by a lively Rangoli (poo kolam) competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from the students. Rangoli, a traditional Indian art form involving intricate patterns created with colored powders, flowers, or rice, played a central role in the festivities, symbolizing joy and prosperity. The students embraced this tradition with great fervor, showcasing their creativity and attention to detail through their colorful and elaborate designs. Their efforts transformed the venue into a canvas of vivid patterns and symbols, reflecting both the spirit of Onam and the rich cultural heritage it celebrates.
The competition not only highlighted the artistic talents of the students but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among them. As they worked together to create their rangoli designs, the students engaged in meaningful exchanges, strengthening their bonds and deepening their appreciation for traditional arts. The event served as a reminder of the significance of Onam—a festival that honors the mythical King Mahabali and signifies the triumph of good over evil. By participating in this celebration, the students not only honored this cultural tradition but also contributed to a vibrant, shared experience that celebrated both individual creativity and collective cultural heritage.
Plan a visit to our college to experience it first hand.
